Colour or Black and White

Well? which do you prefer for your headshot?
Many actors favour the traditional Black and White image over the Colour, but times they are a changin'
If you think about it, we watch TV in colour, films in colour, so whats with the Black and White?

In my (humble) opinion the mono image is fading out very slowly for headshots, above is Eri Jackson-one half of Ginger and Black, a fantastic comedy duo who i photographed recently.
If you take a look at Eri, her hair is a fantastic red, her eyes are a fantastic green, put that lot in front of a blue background and she pops out quite dramatically. In Black and White the shot still works.
So, is the colour shot going to catch a Casting Directors eye? you bet!

Thats why i shoot in colour and convert to B &W, i also give you a choice of both for your headshots.

Daniel Taylor

A few months ago i had the pleasure of photographing Daniel Taylor, half of very funny comic duo 'Ginger & Black' and also a brilliant Actor in his own right.
We started with some simple images in the studio with and without his glasses on, then we went outside for some natural light and studio flash images.
If you notice Daniel is wearing a very simple top that doesn't distract your view of him, it's essential that the viewer is concentrating on the face-after all, that is what  a successful headshot is all about....
